solo show sneak peeks.

My solo show is just a couple weeks away and I am becoming increasingly more anxious, nervous and excited. Having a solo show is hard work, having a solo show outside of your home-state....even harder and more nerve wrecking. I decided to post up some sneak peeks of some of the pieces.

Enjoy & prepare your eye-holes for the crap parade.

"Matthew Ryan Sharp emerges from reclusion with An Approachable Darkness, a culmination of his past year's work. On exhibition are grim portraits of our current state; generations chained to workstations, lazily dreaming of more money, more power, and more say, but too demotivated to take action. His characters represent the lethargies of this American life; clowns and corporate stiffs and the like in between. Using surfaces such as weathered woods and metals, and acrylic and spray paints as his mediums, he has created a series of work inspired by the desires, fears and vices of the average Joe. Encouraged by dissolution and union, hardship and camaraderie, Matthew consistently strives to develop new methods for creating his art. He metaphoric character concepts continue to evolve over time, as does his message and technique."
Opening reception 7-10 pm Friday, 3 October 2008

God Bless The Working Stiff.

Been busy. Painting quite a bit, rolling out some paste-ups and getting little sleep. The above images are my most recent wheatpaste adventure, along with for "sneaks" of four different paintings for my show in October. I will try to update this a bit more than I have been, there are some cool things on the horizon.
